Yamaha launches next-generation MT-10

The authoritative torque master

MT-10 is already the undisputed king of Yamaha's Hyper Naked series.

Since it came out, this sensational motorcycle has won the utmost respect of everyone who has ridden it and anyone who has seen it.

Its high-torque CP4 engine derived from R1 is the most outstanding power unit ever installed on a bare car by Yamaha. The extremely aggressive and naked shape gives the MT-10 its most unique and intimidating appearance.

The lightweight aluminum chassis provides top-notch agility and stability, making it one of the most exciting and valuable motorcycles of all time. Now the next evolution of MT-10 is coming.

It has stronger power, stronger control and more adrenaline, designed to take the Hyper Naked experience to a new level and consolidate MT-10's reputation as an authoritative torque master.

When Yamaha launched the MT-01 in 2007, no one could predict how this unique machine would change the face of the European motorcycle market. The exposed body, high-torque engine and distinctive appearance make it stand out from the crowd. With the launch of the very successful MT-09 in 2013, a new era in the motorcycle world has truly begun.

European riders like what they see-a naked sports motorcycle with very special characteristics that provides them with the torque, agility and feel they are looking for.

With cross-plane concept engine technology, aggressive stance and streamlined bodywork, the MT Hyper Naked series has developed into Yamaha's most successful motorcycle series.

The MT series, which sold more than 290,000 units in Europe, brought new excitement to the streets, and smaller-capacity models successfully attracted a whole new generation of people into the world of two-wheelers.

The sound of any motorcycle-whether it is intake or exhaust-is one of its most decisive characteristics. Yamaha engineers focused on creating a unique soundtrack for the MT-10 by designing a new intake system.

Due to the uneven ignition interval of 270°-180°-90°-180°, MT-10's CP4 cross plane technology engine emits unique intake and exhaust noise, which is characterized by rumble at low speeds and high at high speeds. The roar of tones.

Yamaha’s development team customized a new tuned intake sound for the 2022 model by using a new air filter box equipped with three intake pipes of different lengths and cross-sections.

Each duct produces a different intake sound, and they are designed to resonate harmoniously at different engine speeds, thereby generating a unique intake roar, thereby enhancing the overall riding experience.

In particular, the tuned air intake has been specially designed to produce a perceptual roar between 4,000 rpm and 8,000 rpm, enhancing the MT-10's huge torque during sharp acceleration or cornering.

The new acoustic amplifier grille located at the front left and right front of the 17-liter fuel tank enhances the high torque experience. These amplifiers transmit the tuned induction sound directly to the rider, and the vibration of the grille itself also contributes to the excitement and excitement experienced by the rider when opening the throttle.

A new titanium exhaust pipe is used on the MT-10. This lightweight system has a newly designed titanium downspout and muffler. Like the newly adjusted air intake, the exhaust pipe design emits a deep and unique sound, emphasizing the uneven firing sequence of the bicycle.

At lower engine speeds, the exhaust sound dominates, while the adjusted intake roar changes from intermediate to high speed, forming a sound wall that stimulates the senses and enhances the thrilling acceleration and speed of the more powerful 2022 engine Torque-rich performance.

Compact and simple new appearance

Since the launch of the first MT-10, this flagship Hyper Naked has maintained its unique personality and has a reputation for being one of the most radical bikes of its kind.

The next evolution of MT-10 continues this personality theme, emphasizing the strong personality and intimidating existence of bicycles with a powerful and solemn new look. This is achieved by removing any unnecessary body elements and refocusing attention on the mechanical beauty of this charming bicycle.

The "face" of each motorcycle is one of the most important design elements, shaping the way people perceive it, and also affecting the owner's sense of pride and the level of riding pleasure.

The brand-new MT-10 has a completely new appearance, a stronger overall feeling, a simpler and more atmospheric appearance.

The compact new dual-eye single-focus LED headlights have independent high beam and low beam units, which can provide excellent illumination and project a powerful and uniform beam with softer edge light.

The LED marker lights are located above the headlights, and the new front assembly changes the appearance of this flagship model, making it more refined but more dominant.

The enlarged ducts installed on both sides of the fuel tank cover improve the air intake efficiency and make a significant contribution to the increase in the power output of the 2022 engine. In addition to the mechanical function of providing cold air to the fuel injection system, these air intakes also visually highlight the excellent power of the 998cc engine and form an integral part of the new appearance of the bicycle.

Together with the acoustic amplifier grille located in the front of the fuel tank cap, the dual ducts emit the thrilling air intake sound of the high-torque CP4 engine for riders to enjoy.

Minimal overhang at the front and more compact LED taillights-combined with a new compact nose and new larger air intakes-the centralized design of the MT-10 reaches the extreme, providing a cruel and condensed side profile, no doubt the original This is the king of the MT department.

The MT-10's legendary versatility in almost any riding situation, from city streets to winding roads and long trips-even the occasional track day-makes it one of the most capable and desirable Hyper Naked bikes . In order to improve comfort and greater freedom of adopting different riding styles, the "rider triangle" of the 2022 model-the barbell/pedal/seat relationship-has been improved.

The fuel tank cap is now smoother, and it feels better when the rider holds the fuel tank with his knees when braking or accelerating - and it also provides greater mobility when shifting weight while cornering. In addition, the firmness of the seat has been improved to improve comfort, and the seat design has also been modified.

The new MT-10 is now equipped with a Brembo radial front brake master cylinder. Photo courtesy of Yamaha Motor Europe.

The MT-10's excellent front braking system has dual floating 320mm brake discs with 4 pistons radially mounted calipers-the same system used on R1. Equipped with a new Brembo radial brake master cylinder in 2022, which improves the brake feel of the joystick, thereby improving controllability.

A key feature of the new MT-10 is the Yamaha Variable Speed Limiter (YVSL), which allows the rider to set the maximum speed limit to suit various situations. In addition to ensuring that speed limits on public roads are not accidentally exceeded, the system is also useful when crossing unfamiliar areas or riding under adverse conditions.

The next improvement of the MT-10 is equipped with a 4.2-inch full-color TFT display from R1, which has a clear and easy-to-read screen to view all key information.

The menu switch on the right handlebar allows the rider to choose which information to display, while the "mode/select" switch on the left side of the handlebar can be used to change the intervention level of electronic rider aids, or turn them on or off if applicable .

APSG line control throttle with four power supply modes (PWR)

The new accelerator position sensor handle (APSG) wire-controlled torsion handle device is used in conjunction with Yamaha chip controlled throttle (YCC-T) to make the MT-10 rider more controllable when accelerating. This advanced system provides the best air intake for the combustion chamber, ensuring that the rider experiences smooth torque characteristics in the wide speed range of the MT-10.

The rider can also use the PWR (Power Transmission Mode) switch to adjust the throttle response characteristics.

PWR-1 is suitable for aggressive track day riding; PWR-2 and PWR-3 provide smoother throttle response, allowing riders to experience the linear torque of the bicycle, while PWR-4 has a softer response and is most suitable for wet surface conditions Or use when slippery.

6-axis IMU with rider assist

The new MT-10 is now equipped with the most advanced 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), which was originally developed for the R1 and has now evolved into a smaller and lighter unit.

The IMU has two sensors that can measure 3-axis angular velocity: pitch, roll, and yaw-and 3-axis acceleration: forward/backward, up/down, and left/right. These data are transmitted to the ECU, which activates the bicycle’s electronic rider assistance device, intervening to prevent wheels from locking up, losing traction or wheels, providing unprecedented machine controllability.

Lean and sensitive traction control system

MT-10 benefits from one of the most advanced traction control systems on Hyper Naked.

The sensor detects the relative speed of the front and rear wheels. When it detects that the rear wheels lose traction, the ECU will immediately cut off the driving force to maintain traction and stability.

Using data from the 6-axis IMU, this new tilt-sensitive traction control system can adjust the degree of intervention according to the tilt angle of the bicycle, and the intervention increases as the tilt angle increases.

There are five intervention levels available.

In order to improve turning controllability and confidence, MT-10 is equipped with the latest sliding control system (SCS). When the sensor predicts that the rear wheel is about to slide sideways, the ECU intervenes and reduces the drive to the rear wheel until the chassis is stabilized. The system uses a preset intervention level, but the rider can adjust the level or turn off the system.

When the sensor data tells the IMU that the front wheel is about to rise, the ECU will cut off the power to the rear wheel until the machine is stable again. Like some other rider aids, intervention levels are preset, but the rider can adjust them or turn them off.

EBM controls the degree of engine braking force during deceleration and provides riders with two levels of choice. Level 1 provides a high level of engine braking, while level 2 provides minimal engine braking, allowing the rider to choose the level that best suits the current riding conditions. The mode is preset, but can be adjusted or turned off by the rider.

Brake Control (BC) aims to improve the controllability when riding in a middle curve, and to independently adjust and control the pressure applied to the front brake and the rear brake.

Riders can choose one of two modes: BC1 mode is the standard ABS active mode, while BC2 is designed to run in emergency braking situations in the middle corner.

Although all electronic riding aids can be adjusted independently, Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) enables MT-10 owners to create an all-inclusive system that can switch settings for traction control, SCS, QSS, LIF, EBM, and BC system Simultaneously.

YRC has four different modes designed to adapt to various riding conditions.

Mode A is suitable for sports riding; Mode B is suitable for a wide range of conditions; Mode C is tailored for urban use; Mode D is suitable for rain or adverse conditions.

The four modes of YRC have preset values, but MT-10 riders can choose to reset various mode settings to match their preferences.

Derived from the leading R1 in its class, the aluminum Deltabox chassis is one of the lightest, strongest, and sharpest handling designs in any category. This high-tech frame was developed specifically to handle 200 horsepower, using a CP4 engine as a fully stressed component to keep the weight to an absolute minimum.

The Deltabox chassis is equipped with a long aluminum rear swing arm, but the wheelbase is only 1405 mm, which can provide stable, light and agile handling in a variety of low-speed and high-speed conditions.

Optimized front and rear suspension

The MT-10's advanced suspension system uses optimized model-specific settings designed to provide precise handling and confident grip, whether it is driving hard on a busy city street or a set of corners in the mountains.

The 43 mm fully adjustable KYB fork provides 120 mm of travel, which can be set according to personal riding preferences.

These high-spec front forks are equipped with fully adjustable KYB rear shocks, which can be easily adjusted to cope with different loads and riding styles.
